AREQUIPA
COROPUNA 6425 MASL (3d/2n)
The Coropuna is the third highest peak of Peru, and the highest of the Volcanic
Mountain range of Arequipa, 6425 masl (21,079 ft). It was first climbed by Hiram
Bingham, who discovered the lost city of the Incas, Machupicchu, Coropuna is a
natural separation between the Colca and the Cotahuasi Canyon. The Coropuna
doesn't have technical difficulty but its glacier is one of the largest in the
country.
DAY 1: AREQUIPA – PALLARCOCHA (BASE CAMP)
DAY 2: BASE CAMP – ADVANCED CAMP
DAY 3: ADVANCED CAMP – SUMMIT – BASE CAMP – AREQUIPA
DAY 4: RESERVE DAY
Cotahuasi Route
• Minimum requirements: To have some acclimatization days in
Arequipa or to climb another mountain like the Misti volcano.
• Season: March - November
• Grade: PD.
• Start city: Arequipa.
• Pack weight: 11 lbs.
